full moon

There is something about walking the beach with ‘your’ dogs in the full moon….with a headlamp so u don’t walk on sea urchins.

Dogs look CREEPY in light in the dark, esp white dogs when your light flashes on them and they look at you with fire blue devil eyes, more so Zoe than Buddy, but creepy none the less. Thank god for the reflective dog collar Z wears.

The beach is so quite and peaceful, something so different at night vs day. I had on a towel and a hoodie and was wishing for pants.

However, the damn sand was so cold that I would have given my right arm and half finished cocktail for a pair of snow boots, that’s right folks snow boots. Have you ever walked through cold ass sand that is beyond ankle deep and about 50’ degrees and still swollen with the high tide that was 2 hours ago. Trust me your toes would have fallen off 20 feet beyond beach entrance.

We had a great night of Olympic ceremony, hot tub and cocktails. I <3 the hot tub on a ful moon, its so nice.

What is it with dogs loving the water from the hot tub straight out of your hand but not the water bowl, they are retarded I tell ya, who really likes the taste of chlorine = my dog Zoe.

I always compose the BEST blogs while at the beach but by the time I make it back to the house my brain has completely forgotten said post and then I just begin to ramble.

Ok My new favorite show yet to see, The Marriage Ref…..omg this looks fantastic…..celebs giving marriage advice(as if they have a leg to stand on) but it looks hilarious none the less.

Till tmrw. I have committed my poor soul to ‘helping an older lady navigate the internet and organize a photo album for a friend’ all please say a mantra for me as I just might smash my head into a cement wall. Hello Monday.

Ps squirrels are creepy!

you ever have one of those months were nothing noteworthy happens.....I miss my uber crazy schedule.

40 hrs of desk work was a breeze, it was the after work that was fun, exciting, entertaining, pricey;) adventuresome, fulfilling.

I miss those days like I miss, crepe's.....omg what I would do for a crepe from Crepe's A Go-Go in the creek, with tomato, mozzarella, avacado, ham and jack cheese, which sirachi sauce. enter mouth watering right now.

with long days of not much to do, ones mind tends to wander, and wander Far.

it's sad how much I think about food these days, but we have 0=zero restaurants on this rock. it's so bad that on our trips back to the states I get totally overwhelmed on picking a type of cuisine, ie. italian, thai, chinese, american, mexican....I want it all and in 3 days!!!

and I am talking sit down and eat places, this does not cover fast food by any means, which I DO NOT feel guilty eating at this point in my life, mainly because I go so damn long with out even seeing or thinking about any of these till they are flying past my eyes out the car window....chick-fil-a you are evil!

I miss Sundays in the Creek like no other, days of sleeping in, running into local starcrack for coffee, going to eat CREPE'S, wandering around downtown window shopping, picking up the paper, reading said paper in our shoebox apt with the guts of paper scattered all over the floor, then deciding a trip to Target is a Must, wander around glorious, fabulous target, every aisle. then either a late movie or late beer at Crogan's.....ah Walnut Creek, you were wonderful....sunday's were not complete without the obligatory trip to Trader Joe's!!! I could live the rest of my life buying food only from Trader's

something else that's funny, well actually annoying to me, I am beginning to forget some of the artwork we had on the walls of the shoebox, specifically the large piece Chris bought me for our 3 year anniversary(for those counting we are coming up on 5 this april!) and we had a LOT of artwork.

sad to think about my stuff living in a storage unit and not on my walls for my eyes to enjoy every day.

ahhh to digress, happens to easy when you are stuck indoors due to yucky weather, 56! degrees for a few days now, cloudy and very windy.

Chris did manage to beat MArio for Wii and is now on the secret world 9, which means ya have to play the whole damn game all over again....entertaining for me to watch him jump and stomp around the living room throwing his hands in the air yelling at the tv. ;0

what else, oh our dog Zoe has taken to chasing cars down the driveway, dont get me started on her love of people on bicycles.....she is getting yelled at and put in the submissive position on a daily basis.....but she is so damn cute, you feel bad for yelling at her cause you are really trying to save her little life from moving vehicles.

in other news we are house sitting for 3 weeks, we have Chris' parents and his uncle coming for a week visit next saturday

overdue update

Hello 2010!

i have been a huge slacker on the blog but how many days can I write about hanging out at home with Chris and Zoe, watching many hours of HGTV, long beach walks and hours of net surfing = boring blog posts.

here we go -

Nov - had us house sitting at Jerry and Donna's for 5 weeks, much time spent at beach and pool, Chris built some furniture. 2 side tables, a small wall table, a book case and a larger display table, I have a few pics.

ARUGH! ok no more pics as these 2 took 33 mins to upload.....drives us crazy that uploading takes so damn long.

ok where was I, Nov right.

We went out on the Cow Hunter in early Nov. not the best day of fishing, had to come in early due to high winds in the afternoon. We had 2 guests at Jerry and Donna's for bout a week, fun couple.

We had dinner at Billy and Dari's a few times that week also, so different to be there and all be able to sit at the table. Not the usual 40-60 people.

I think we went to Hawk's Nest 5 of 8 days in early Nov. We had a bday party round the 13th, huge sheet cake and all.

Nov 17th I became an Aunt again, little Jeb Brennan Brooker was born.

Turkey day we took gthe dogs down for early beach walk, I cooked broccoli rice dish, Chris cooked sweet potato dish, we had dinner with bout 15 people at Roy and Lucille's. Great food, decent football but no pumpkin pie;( I took the dogs for a full moon beach walk when we got home, so cool!

More beach walks with the dogs, see a theme here....

Our big truck started to give us problems, turns out bad diesel was put in the tank and gave us major problems, had to drain the fuel filter many times. Truck was down for 2 weeks +. that was fun!

EArly Dec Jerry and Donna came back to Cat, dinner parties got back under way and we got to move back home! we missed our bed so much, we have a king and had been sleeping on a full!

Dinner at the Cat house 2 times early Dec. love the small parties.

Jerry and Donna got Super Mario for Wii, holy hell was that fun and full of old memories. They are terrible at the game, chris and I are pretty good considering we grew up with the games but it had been many years since playing any of them.

Dec 16 Donna and I went to Nassau for 2 days, had some shopping to do and I went to dentist. So crazy to drive in Nassau, and poor Donna does not have the best sense of direction or map reading skills. We turned around a LOT!

We had several things to get done before going home for xmas, always more to do than you think. Got all packed, apt cleaned and took Zoe to Jerry's a night early.

She was there for 15 days and I doubt she missed us that much. She has the run of his property, and the beach, which she has taken to venturing down to by herself.

Xmas most of you know. Was too short, way to damn cold, and crazy as always. We got to eat some great food, visit with family, take funny pics, watch stupid movies and had many cocktails.

We spent a week in FL before going back to Cat. Stayed in Miami this time vs Ft Lauderdale. Ate some great Cuban food 2xs, saw 4 Phish shows, watched Avatar 3D, AWESOME!!!, got to hang with old friends, watch the sunrise, have our minds shattered musically along with a kaleidoscope of visual assault thanks to Kuroda, got to shop at Target 3 xs! got our hair cut, bought socks, lol. the regular stuff we cant do at home.

Jan - got delayed in Ft L for over 3 hours = missing flight to Cat, spent next 3 hours getting paperwork filled out to be put up at hotel for night. Nassau drives me nuts.

Sheraton is a nice hotel tho. much nicer than the Wyndham.

Chris already had a headcold before we got back to Cat, I felt great....until Thurs. I tell you the best way to EVER torture me is to stuff my nose up, i just about want to claw my nose off my face. Worst ever. my cold lasted bout 3 days, Chris' much longer. We drank tons! of tea, I love Teavana.....such delicious tea blends. www.teavana.com (shame less plug)

Jan 17-20, Hawk's Nest Wahoo Tournament.

Capt meeting on Sunday, 11 boats in the tourn. lots of familiar faces from last year. I served chicken wings with Jerry and Donna. always a fun time.

Monday was our earliest wake up call in, well I dont wanna really tell ya, but we had to be up round 6am and be at the marina no later than 710am. Day on the Cow Hunter was very slow till 2ish, when we caught the 1st fish of the day. I read more than half a book, took lots of pics and drank several beers.

Sand Dollar from Deleware caught the biggest wahoo of the day at 111 lbs, and they are not really even fishermen. Great night and a long drive home later, gearing up for next day.

Early start again, Dari had tons to do for turkey dinner so I bailed on boating and threw myself into the kitchen. I had NO idea it would be so much work and heavy lifting. Working with Dari is great and fun, but I have no idea how she usually does it all on her own.

We cooked tues from 10am - 8pm, and then had to help serve the dinner. So much driving between the marina, where the cooker is, to the resort kitchen, to her house a mile down the road. We didn't stop all day. Thankfully we brought stuff to stay the night the rest of the tourn.

Cow Hunter day 2 had a FANTASTIC day of fishing, they brought in 211 lbs of fish that day, the box was FULL! Captain was very happy.

Day 3 we started all over again, guys out at 730 for bimini start at 8am, i had to run back to house for another case of beer for a chance at winning the beer calcutta. Dari and I cooked all day from 830-9ish again. We had over 80 lbs of smoked fish to get off the cooker before we could make tons of fish dip, I swear working in the kitchen you get a facial and toned muscles.

a very long day, Cow Hunter caught nothing day 3 but a big buzz! they were hammered when they *finally* got back to the marina....so much so that Cpt and cook, Billy had to be taken home and put to bed. he didn't even taste mine and Dari's steak that we slaved over all day in the heat, which btw felt like summer, it was so hot and there was no wind at all. what I would have given to sit by the pool instead of the smoker.

Cow Hunter got 2nd place. Sharkey's, the marina restaurant, was in full swing till after midnight.

We stayed around thurs am to help clean the boat. you would NOT believe how dirty a boat gets while out in the water. I will spare you the groddy details but with 5 people cleaning we got the boat done in bout 2.5 hours.

I have never been so exhausted. We came home and crashed on the couch all day. I am signed up again for kitchen duty for the Bill Fish Tourny in late May, many more boats and 4 days this time.

I have said it before but I will *try* to be better at this blog, we have some events coming up in Feb. I will post pics to Picasa album as we venture into the year.

Hope all are doing great.

Phish had their 8th Festival this weekend in Indio, CA yes AFTER I move away! I have been following online and living through the pics. Words can't even describe how badly I wish we could have come back for this one. 3.0 won't be around forever, here's hoping the PTBM will smile upon us for NYE!

basically I have been a pain in the ass, depressed pouty girl as this is the weekend all of our friends have gathered together and we have missed it. to top if off we have had NOTH ING to do this weekend here on Cat at all, even more frustrating.

rant is done, Phish still has 2 more sets to play tonight and I will watch via twitter, lame

we are connected

Yes as of Oct 16th we obtained tv and Cable TV!!!!! it has been 6 1/2 months since we had tv at home. WE have spent many many nights watching movies, old movies, and 6 count them 6! seasons of the X Files!! not that I mind watching XF, and I do believe Chris has gotten into the series as well.

The weekend was filled with flipping between, college ball, hgtv, travel, discovery and of course all the 'toon shows. I mean we got to watch the freakin Smurf's and The Snorks....very exciting time here on Cat. I actually watched an ep of the damn Golden Girls this morning over coffee! go me

Now watching broncs and chargers....Chris is in football heaven right now. So fastforward to this morning. After a very early wake up call by Jerry, he and Chris got the internet satellite lined up and we have lift off! However we spent many tries trying to get the wireless modem to work and it's still not. So I am sitting on the floor next to tv with lappy on a cooler, ice chest for all you texans. We have to be plugged in to modem old school style for time being.

This is SO great to be online again. The drought has ended. So, I hope to be more consistent with blogging, uploading pics, checking emails, message boards, FB, even the 'space. We still have the same restrictions on download limit per day, 470 MB, uploading takes FOREVER!!!! been uploading a work file, 94 MB for, oh.....8 hours now!

More to come.

started this post 2 weeks ago, as of right now we are house sitting for Jerry and Donna.....which we love, cable tv, internet, & pool. Had a huge storm last night lots of lightning, thunder and tons of rain. Turns out Bear, one of the dogs is terrified of thunder, poor guy was shaking and panting all night. Power went out 15 mins after storm started, big streaks of lightning out on the water and Bam, balckout.

We couldnt get the generator turned on....so we suffered ALL night long. Got super hot very quick, raining so hard we couldnt open the windows. Could not locate more than 1 flashlight in the house so I was digging for candles. Decided to go to bed worke up 30 mins later in a pool of sweat and was dizzy, so I hauled myself down to one of the trucks with a pillow and a throw blanket. Turned on the truck at 3:30am, AC full blast and pass out in the small backset.

Woke up 40 mins later fell off the seat and was totally confused as to where I was, but I had cooled down dramatically. Stayed in the truck till daybreak started, bout 6am....and went back into the house that was a sauna.

Opened all the windows, get done with this and it startes to rain again!! I give up, leave them open, and flop onto the bed. It's the worst when you cant sleep cause you are so damn hot, it was totally silent, well except for 3 dogs panting and Chris lightly snoring. Must have dosed off for a bit and heard Chris on the phone trying again to get generator turned on. It finally turned over after pumping the lines for 30 mins. YES! We have power now, with fans, an AC, tv and internet. Which is Miles above what we would have if we were at the apartment=nothing!

No idea when the power will be restored, may be the rest of the day. We are supposed! to go out to the property and unload a bunch of chain link fencing today. But with all the rain we got it will be a muddy swamp out there, so fingers crossed that Chris will let us hold off a day for it to dry out. And we are exhausted from little to no sleep.

other than last night, it has been football, football, footbal, and More fotball. which is ok, but last sat we watched 12 freakin hours of football!!! And since it's opening NFL weekend there were several games on sunday and 2 for Monday night football. We are still adjusting to east coast time in regards to watching sports, meaning the Raiders vs Chargers game didn't start over here till 10:30pm!!! makes for really long days.....at the pool.

Now I watch college ball no problem, the NFL, take it or leave it. But we have football on, Thursday, Friday, Sat. Sun. and Monday! lord help me but my tan is coming along nicely ;)

What else. We are taking a leave off Cat next week for 6 days. Going to Ft Lauderdale to restock on supplies, watch some.... you guessed it football and a movie or 2. Get haircuts, pedi's, new work shoes, etc. etc. Will be nice to get away and Jerry is gonna watch Miss Zoe.

Who btw is LOVING it over here. after all is said and done she will have spent almost a full month running free on Jerry's land and beach with Bear and Buddy. She is getting along great with both of them and actually playing with Buddy now, who couldnt stand her for the first several months we would bring her over. Will be in for a BIG shock when she has to go back to being on her rope at the apt.

We live on a busy road in the settlement and can not let her run loose, too many other dogs and cars. She will be in further shock in early Oct as we are taking her to Nassua for a vet overhaul and to get her fixed! yay!!! no puppies. Chris and I will be going to the dentist over there during that time, look ma no cavaties! I hope. Also gonna see a Dr. bout Invisalign to get my teeth back on track. They have shifted over the year....which sucks after wearing braces for 7 1/2 years. Blah!

What else....I think most that follow this blog already know, but we got our contract renewed for another full year. Starting Oct 3, 2009 to Oct 2010!!! So excited about this as the project is actually starting to move into the stage of receiveing shipments from the states to start building roads and wells and such. Gonna pick up steam very soon.

More to come later.

hanging in there

not sure of my last post but without the net at home it's almost impossible to set and crank out a blog.

So much has gone on.

In June we had the Annual Cat Island Rake n Scrape festival that was way up north took us 1.5 hours to drive up there. Took lots of pics and will be posting them later this week.

The next day we left Cat and made our way to Charlotte, NC for a weeks vaca!! we went to ASheville for most the week, got to see my cousin Jaime, ate a ton of great food, lots of tasty brews and had a kickass good time!! Asheville is an awesome town in the mountains, will def be going back again. We made the treck over to Knoxville, TN for a night of PHISH!!! the venue was packed, it was the TN titans bball arena, such a great show. Then over to a diff place for some late night Pnuma trio. Saw a buddy photog from SF while there and got to chat for a drink.

It was the best to have a whole week to explore and just take it easy. On another note, we had found a puppy in our front yard the week before our NC trip. Some friends on CAt watched her for us, and we had to stock up on puppy suplies for the next 3 months. I have posted some pics of her on our Google Picassa page, we named her Zoe. She is growing so fast went from 5 pds to 15 in about 7 weeks.

Last week my dad and his wife Nancy came to Cat, they got here with no bags. however, we have the best group of friends here and in no time they had clothes, suits, and shower gear. The guys went out fishing on friday and the catching was slow but they came home with 2 or 3 tuna. We had a big dinner that night with lots of laughs.

Sat we cruised around the island, checking things out went out to the property beach and hung in the pool. Sunday was snorkle day and we made it to 3 diff spots, even found some sand dollars, hope they made it home ok. We had dinner at another friends house that night and got to watch a huge t-storm blow in, which my dad loves.

Monday we hung in the pool, snorkled off Flamingo Bay, hung in the ocean, then the pool. Then, Jerry brought down his infamous potent Rum Punch. I gave plenty of full warnings to DAnny bout how it sneaks up on ya and he paid no attention to warnings. After 4 or 5 cups, I forget, Danny was swimming in punch and conch fritters that he bailed on us at 8pm. That did not stop us from partying and hanging out till midnight. We went back to villa with Nancy, cooked dinner made cocktails using a blender, and played a card game called Pluck till almost 12pm, when Danny finally wakes up. Was too funny!! I even got some pics of him passed out in bed!

Things have gotten back to the same ole same ole. Work is picking up again, Zoe keeps us busy as always, altho she is sleeping till 9am!!! Been coming to Jerry's every afternoon to cool off in the pool, which is a MUST as its so hot at our house.

We are SUPPOSED to have our net equipment and modem at the dock this week, hope to have it hooked up very soon. I will be much better bout posts once I have time to sit.
